4 Ways to Detox After the Holidays

The holidays are a time for family, friends...and food. We often feel tired and weighed down after the stress and calories of the holiday season. Now is the perfect time to start those healthy habits to kick off the new year the right way! Here are our some of our favorite ways to detox after the holidays:

 

Move Your Body

We all know exercise is good for us, but it can be hard to get back in the gym after a long holiday. Aim to be active for at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Whether it’s a quick HIIT routine or jog around the block, get your heart rate up to release some endorphins! It also helps increase your energy when you’re feeling sluggish after the holidays.  

Start a Morning Routine

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so it’s no wonder a good morning routine is also important. Many of us wake up to the sound of alarm, but there are many sleep apps that let you choose a relaxing melody to wake up to like Sleep Cycle. Give yourself some extra time to enjoy your coffee, eat a good breakfast and listen to your favorite playlist.

Add Apples

Apple cider vinegar is one of the best ways to reduce bloat and help your digestive system. Not only can it lower blood sugar and cholesterol, it also brightens teeth, boosts energy, clears acne and clears a stuffy nose. Just don’t forget to mix the ACV with another liquid to dilute it or the acidity can harm your throat. We recommend warm water with lemon or some hot tea!  

 

Start Slow

Starting a new habit can be tough, so start slow. Whether that means slowly incorporating more veggies into your diet or running 15 minutes a day, the little stuff counts! It’s also helpful for allowing your body to adjust to the new changes at its own pace. We recommend setting goals for yourself once a month to work toward for extra motivation.
